Frequently asked questions:

What is a "Vehicle Wrap"?
Known as “Car Wrapping” or “Vinyl Wrapping” this is a process of transforming the color and overall look of your vehicle by applying large sheets of colored or printed vinyl film. Vehicle wraps can also consist of printed designs containing logos, graphics, photos, or branded elements to represent a business, event or group. Vehicle wraps, basically a digital printed mobile billboard, are one of the most dynamic and powerful advertising platforms. The vinyl film is applied with extreme precision and skill and can only be carried out by a highly trained staff.
How much does it cost to wrap a vehicle?
Wraps are priced by the square foot.  An average full wrap on a car can range from $2,500 to $3,500. Prices will vary depending on the vehicle type, surface complexity, and film used. Will a wrap protect my vehicle?
Most wrap films are thin and pliable so they can stretch easily during application. Unfortunately, thinner films typically don’t offer much paint protection. However, some wrap films are significantly thicker and can add a protection layer. Matte colored film is typically around 2-4 MILS thick and won’t withstand much of an impact from large road debris, but satin clear and clear bra protection at around 7-9 MILS thick, keeps your paint much safer.
Are vehicle wraps a good investment for your business?
Vinyl car wrapping works great for all kinds of businesses to promote their brands and advertise their products and services. According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA), more than 95 percent of Americans are reached by media targeting vehicle drivers and passengers. The OAAA says that mobile advertising can be the most effective and efficient form of out of home advertising, reaching more consumers at a lower cost per thousand impressions than any other form of advertising. Estimates show that a wrap costs around 4 cents per thousand impressions, while other forms of advertising cost significantly more. For instance, it’s estimated that outdoor signs cost $3.56 per thousand impressions, and newspaper ads cost $19.70 for that number of impressions. One wrapped vehicle can potentially net between 30,000 and 80,000 impressions per day, depending on how far and where the car is driven.
Will the vinyl wrap hurt the original paint of my vehicle?
No, but improper installation or removal can. A poor install means your vehicle’s paint may get damaged from razor blade scratches, and poor adhesion which can lead to wrap failure. Also, if the wrong type of film is used during the application, like a sign vinyl with extra strength adhesive or low flexibility, can strip your paint and cause serious damage.
How long will my vehicle wrap last?
Generally, a wrap will last 3-5 years.  Wrap life span really depends on how well the film is cared for, how much day to day stress the wrap gets from road driving, and what quality of film was used to do the installation. Some films last longer than others, and the thicker they are the more damage they can take. We recommend changing your wrap in 3 years, as this allows the wrap to be removed with ease.
How long does it take to wrap a vehicle?
The installation on a car normally takes between one to three days, depending on how much coverage has to be applied. We stay in communication with our customers to minimize down time of the vehicle and will provide you an estimated date of completion wen you drop off the vehicle.
Will you design my wrap or do I have to provide my own designs?
Either option is available. We can create a design for you. Our customers communicate their vision and messaging objectives and we take it from there, providing you with options to choose from. To streamline the process, customers supply us with their (high resolution) logos, photos, and other supporting images, and we then create the graphics in a format that best fits the vehicle. We can use existing (stock) photography if a customer does not have any they feel is appropriate for their vehicle wrap.
What types of vehicles can you wrap?
Direct Effect Wraps specializes in cars, trucks, boats, trailers, watercraft, RV’s, food concession trucks, box trucks, vans, transit and service vehicles, shuttle buses, transporters, toy haulers, and commercial vehicles, even golf carts.
How do I care for my vehicle wrap?
Upon completion of your wrap we will instruct you on the care of the wrap. Generally, hand washing is best. We recommend NOT to pressure wash the vehicle after installation of the vinyl. Some pressure washers can potentially lift up the vinyl because of improper use of the water pressure. The wrap is an investment to your marketing and advertising strategy and thus it should be protected.
